HOMELAND

Architect Matěj (51) has moved to a little village in the Czech Republic to find refuge after years of working abroad. Besides renovating his farmhouse, he is also reconstructing the local community center which is about to host the mayor's birthday celebration. In the early evening, as the festivities begin, Matěj meets foreigner Eva (40), a German tour guide looking for help. She is taking a group of senior citizens to the Sudetenland from which their ancestors were expelled after the war. Their bus had an accident and will not start. The villagers, with the mayor in the lead, offer the Germans to join the celebration until their bus is repaired. Due to misunderstanding and prejudice, the well-intentioned good deed escalates into a conflict between the locals and the Germans...
